Chapter-29

“Let Me Go…”*
“Hello Sir? Would you please pass your phone to Komal? She’s not picking up her phone!”

“Aditya, what happened? Komal seemed a bit off mood & now you sound disturbed too!!”

“Sir, I promise I’ll explain you everything later on, but for now please tell Komal to pick up her phone!!”

After few more tries, Komal received the call.

“Hello Komal! Please don’t disconnect the line! I need to talk to you right now!”

“It’s of no use Aditya! Both of us are aware of the facts, and right now the biggest truth is that Amrita has come back into your life…”

“No it’s not! The biggest fact is that I love you! And I am in no position to lose you!! Why don’t you understand?”

“Why don’t you understand Aditya… it’s true that we both are in love, but it’s equally true that in this position Amrita has no one to be called as her own! She has lost almost everything in the riots. She has come to you for the love and support that you promised her! And I can’t take that away from her. I simply can’t…”

“Komal, listen to me… please!”

“Don’t call me up again Aditya. Goodbye!”

*********************************************************

Amrita was in Aditya’s flat, she was perhaps too shaken to notice the evident change that was all around the place which had Komal’s name on it.

“Here’s your coffee…”

“Thanks Adi!”

“Where’s Auntie?”

“She’s with our cousin’s in Delhi. I dropped her there and rushed back here. They were dead worried thinking about us! Even they searched every hospital. Mom totally forgot to inform them! I guess she was under too much shock seeing me and daddy both in that condition.”

“Uncle’s alright?”

“He’s alright now; he was almost senseless by the time I reached there. Paralysis has taken it’s toll. He can’t speak or move a lot now.”

“He’ll be alright, don’t worry about that.”

Amrita hugged Aditya tightly and said

“I’m sorry I left you in between all these troubles, it must’ve been very hard on you.” She was crying.

Aditya held her in his arms and said

“Don’t worry! Everything will be allright!”

The Way Beyond (Prologue)

I woke up!  It was dark, tried opening  my eyes, didn't do much help. As if I was inside a void with only darkness around me .  I opened my eyes and the darkness flooded in! I tried remembering where I was, tried remembering something that  could explain why I am here, all in vain. My head hurt and I couldn't recall  anything. It felt like the time has collapsed on itself and now there is nothing else, well except for this dark void.  They say your lizard brain wakes up in these situations. From the depths of your consciousness, and attempts to guide your instincts to safety. I see something now! Maybe my eyes have finally adjusted themselves to this darkness. Something familiar comes into my vision, laying in front of me. A leather spined book on top of a towel, an old leather bound book. I looked around, I was sitting in the shade of a tree. Can you still call it a shade when there is nothing but darkness around? Like if a tree falls in...

Close Apart (Chapter-2)

Close Apart Chapter – 2 “They meet…” “British Council, 5:00 pm, Hmm” The reason Aditya was thinking so much that day, because meeting Amrita at 5’o clock would mean that he would have to leave his office half an hour ago than his usual time. And that would mean that he’ll have to take this matter to his manager’s concern. “At 5:00!! What for? “ “Actually I have an appointment… with my… Dentist.” God knows why Dentists get involved in these appointments!! So, there he was! Out of his office, half an hour earlier than usual.Aditya was feeling a little uneasy. Actually he was never comfortable with girls. An issue which was of a major concern for his fellow colleagues. Many a times his friends have arranged blind dates for him, but all in vain!! But this time it is little different. Anyone who had known Aditya would have gone through a major shock viewing him talk to a girl, but Aditya knew he had a header here. Actually, Amrita was in the same class, in which Aditya used to study… “So yo...

Close Apart (Chapter-8)

Close Apart Chapter-8 “Here She Comes…” Still coping with the pain of leaving his ‘lady love’ for the rest of the week, Aditya dragged himself towards the platform where Rajdhani Express was about to arrive. Komal was coming in the couch AS2. So when the train arrived Aditya went near the coach and waited for her to pop out. A few moments later a young girl came out. Aditya had some genuine doubts about her being Mr. Arora’s daughter, he never thought that his daughter could inherit such beauty, but when he saw that she was actually giving a feel of looking for someone, Aditya approached. “Excuse Me, Miss Komal Arora?” “Yeah!?” “Aditya here, Actually Mr. Arora had an important appointment so…” “But Dad Said that he’ll be here!!” “It was a last minute change!!” “Look! I don’t need this…” “Excuse me?” “I mean I don’t need anyone to receive me at the station and escort me to my home!! I am old enough to handle these things.” “I can understand…” “No you can’t! So just show me where the car...
