Close Apart
Chapter-4
“The Call*”

“That was something heavy!!” said Amrita, referring the meal they had.

“You call that heavy? I’m still feeling hungry.”

“So, Aditya! How long you’ve been here, doing this job?”

“About a year now, already I’ve been promoted once…”

“That’s so typically you!!” said Amrita.

“Now you’ll say that I also got promoted every year at school!!”

“Speaking of school, where are the other guys?”

“Don’t have lot of contacts” said Aditya “Just a few, Subhash is in Aeronautics Engineering with IA, Suraj is in the US, pursuing his career as a CA …”

“And Amrita is in Kolkata as a receptionist in BC!” interrupted Amrita

“That’s right!” said Aditya

“So that leaves only we two in this city!”

“You know one thing… for the past one year or so, we’ve been walking the same road to our works, only because today I was late, we had this chance to meet.” Uttered Amrita

Aditya looked in the eyes of Amrita; he felt that they wanted to reveal something,

“My stop’s here” said Amrita and hurriedly stepped down from the tram.

Aditya got back to his flat, had a bath, watched his favorite TV serials, had his dinner, but not even for a second the thought of Amrita, left his mind.

Just when he was planning to go for sleeping, his cell-phone rang, it was Amrita.

“Aditya! Sorry to disturb you at this time, but today, when I left you in the tram, I felt like expressing myself near you, but in hurry I forgot to say you something.”

“Well! You can say it now” Aditya’s pulse was racing.

“I wanted to say… Thank You for the treat!”

“Ohh… You are welcome…”

With a sound of giggle on the other side, some words flowed through the receiver.

“Good Night Adi!”

Close Apart (Chapter-32)

Close Apart Chapter-32 “Shopping Day” Amrita took Komal for her wedding day shopping! Komal tried a lot to dodge Amrita but then she was not so resourceful when it came to denying someone. “Look, all my life I’ve been either studying or working, actually I didn’t get real time to dress-up or to party around. So I am what you’ll call a fashion disaster” confessed Amrita. “Don’t worry! I’ll Help You out! You won’t be a fashion disaster on your wedding day.” Komal smiled and replied. After sometime, Amrita was lining up in front of the trial room while holding few dazzling dresses. “I know the decision was a bit hasty, but after so many days without him, I don’t have the patience of staying away anymore! I know, you must be thinking that getting married in a registrar’s office is such a boring thing to do, but for me the companionship is much more important than a fancy wedding! And even Aditya seems to be quite supportive about this.” Amrita finished as she went in one of the trial room...

Close Apart (Chapter-2)

Close Apart Chapter – 2 “They meet…” “British Council, 5:00 pm, Hmm” The reason Aditya was thinking so much that day, because meeting Amrita at 5’o clock would mean that he would have to leave his office half an hour ago than his usual time. And that would mean that he’ll have to take this matter to his manager’s concern. “At 5:00!! What for? “ “Actually I have an appointment… with my… Dentist.” God knows why Dentists get involved in these appointments!! So, there he was! Out of his office, half an hour earlier than usual.Aditya was feeling a little uneasy. Actually he was never comfortable with girls. An issue which was of a major concern for his fellow colleagues. Many a times his friends have arranged blind dates for him, but all in vain!! But this time it is little different. Anyone who had known Aditya would have gone through a major shock viewing him talk to a girl, but Aditya knew he had a header here. Actually, Amrita was in the same class, in which Aditya used to study… “So yo...

The Way Beyond (Prologue)

I woke up!  It was dark, tried opening  my eyes, didn't do much help. As if I was inside a void with only darkness around me .  I opened my eyes and the darkness flooded in! I tried remembering where I was, tried remembering something that  could explain why I am here, all in vain. My head hurt and I couldn't recall  anything. It felt like the time has collapsed on itself and now there is nothing else, well except for this dark void.  They say your lizard brain wakes up in these situations. From the depths of your consciousness, and attempts to guide your instincts to safety. I see something now! Maybe my eyes have finally adjusted themselves to this darkness. Something familiar comes into my vision, laying in front of me. A leather spined book on top of a towel, an old leather bound book. I looked around, I was sitting in the shade of a tree. Can you still call it a shade when there is nothing but darkness around? Like if a tree falls in...
